On Saturday, May 6, National Scrapbooking Day, a group of us got together to learn about scrapbooking from Joy Mendez. We talked about types of scrapbooks, layouts, materials, and where to begin, and then had lots of hands-on time to create. On December 8, 2016, 30 grade K-2 students at the Animas Schools made books. They started with pre-folded booklets made with these instructions. They then wrote their books. Some students chose to use mainly pictures, while others included words. After their books were done, covers were attached, and students decorated those as well.
On December 8, 2016, 30 grade K-2 students at the Animas Schools made puppets and then performed puppet shows as a story telling activity. The puppets were made by pasting images on to paper plates and cutting them out. The images were either taken from printouts or created from scratch.
